Monday July 12, 2010, Washington DC - The City of Paynesville, Liberia is slated to receive a multifaceted educational center through efforts of Liberians and major donors in the United States. The project is scheduled to be officially launched on July 23 at a major event at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Silver Spring Maryland, hosted by renown Liberian journalists Cllr. Kwame  Clement, and Welma Mashinini Redd of  “African World”.

Runway Liberia CEO Junda M. Kennedy announced on Monday that the project will be named in honor of the Late Grace Morris, an iconic figure in the Liberian educational system who served as head of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for more than two decades (1973-1996) during which Liberian secondary student performance reached its highest levels.

The facility will house a library and educational center providing access to modernized educational and research materials including modern books, computers, software and visual equipment. It is the first in a series of initiatives by Runway Liberia in a bid to “harness the direct involvement of Liberians abroad in the reconstruction of Liberia”.

The Grace Morris Library and Educational Center, when completed, will mark the first modernized Library in Paynesville and one of a kind in the country.
