General Gibson was predeceased by his siblings, Charlotte Gibson, Leroy Gibson, Sr., Fannie Gibson George, Martha Gibson Merchant and, Henry Gibson. General Gibson who was one of the late, President William V. S. Tubman Generals, played a crucial role in the smooth transition from the Tubman to Tolbert administration with his strong command of the Executive Mansion guards, and his force of personality over the security and armed forces of Liberia.

This is to announce the passing away of Retired General Robert H. Gibson, from cancer of the pancreas at his residence in Atlanta, GA in the early morning hours of January 21st, 2010. General Gibson was born in Harper City; Maryland County; Liberia West Africa on October 14th, 1927. He leaves to cherish his memories his widow Betty Gibson ( a former teacher at the American Cooperative School); his sister Mary Gibson Pearson; four sons and a daughter; a host of nieces and nephews; a host of grandchildren; friends; and other loved ones.
